Brake fluid, which is also called hydraulic fluid, functions at high temperature and pressure to stop your car. The fluid is passed through brake lines to the wheels as you press on the brake pedal. Take a look at how it works.

When you press the brake pedal, the pedal squeezes a piston within the brake caliper. This causes an increase in pressure within the brake lines, causing the brake fluid to move. The brake fluid pressure causes the rotors to compress the brake pads. This causes the pads to contact the wheels and slow the car.
